| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this descriptive study was to determine knowledge, attitudes and practice on the prevention of HIV/AIDS among street children. Rosenstock Health Belief model guided the study. A sample of 20 (n=20) randomly selected street children participated in the study. Each participant was given a number for identification. The results showed that the majority of street children had adequate knowledge on HIV/AIDS in terms of mode of transmission and preventive measures. However, the findings further revealed that inspite of this knowledge some street children were involved in unprotected sexual behaviour thereby predisposing themselves to contracting HIV/AIDS. The findings therefore suggest that there is need to address the knowledge gap and put in place programmes that may bring about behaviour change | en_US |
