Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore knowledge and practices of clients with dental problems at the Kamuzu Central Hospital's Dental clinic. Data was collected using questionnaires distributed randomly to 30 clients with dental problems veil line to take part in this study. Among others, the results of this study have shown that most dental problems occur in people between the ages of 21-30 and that there is a general lack of information about dental health among many people. Therefore, the government of Malawi should increase preventive and 1 health promotive dental health care services especially oral care to prevent tooth decay. This can be achieved by increasing the number of community health nurses and establishment of more health centres or posts in densely populated areas. These will serve as information centres on prevention of dental problems. The government should also train and employ more Community health nurses and dental therapists where clients with dental problems can be referred to, receive continuous health education on prevention of dental problems in order to reinforce positive behavioural change. The patients can also access quick and proper dental treatments from the health centres as well as the Community Health nurses.
