Abstract
This is a proposal to conduct a study on knowledge, attitude and perception of mothers towards child immunization in Lilongwe district. The findings of this study will help stakeholders, policy makers and government in designing appropriate interventions that will help in changing the attitude and perception of mothers towards child immunization hence more women will show up for child immunization. This would in turn increase the immunisation coverage rate which will lead to a decrease in under five mortality rate hence helping the nation to achieve MDG4. In this proposal literature review on studies done worldwide, in Africa and Malawi relating to this study to be conducted are included. The conceptual framework to be used in the study is the Health Belief Model that looks at why some people take specific actions to prevent a disease or condition and some do not. The methodology to be used in this research study is the qualitative method and a sample of 10 will be used where each one will be giving his views subjectively relevant to the questions that will be used since an interview guide will be used. In order to conduct the study in respect of human dignity, integrity and authority, ethical considerations will be taken into account.
